Escape Room

There is a place called Escape Room! It’s a game place, where we get locked into a room, we need to solve a puzzle to come out of the room or wait for the timeout. It is a sequence of rooms, we will be given a puzzle to escape the current room and proceed to the next one. We must cross multiple rooms, using the clues found in each one, and finally come out of the maze. This is not video or digital, the rooms are all properly built and real. Ever since I heard about this Escape Room, I wanted to visit it.

My father said winder or rainy day is the good time to visit this place. I was eagerly waiting to go to this mystery chamber. Our friends and family decided to go together, and I liked the outing because we children could chat and plan the day while traveling in one car.

Instead of sitting in front of the television, I love going out like this with friends. Traveling is always interesting with chit-chats. Lalith has done a bit of research about this Escape Room. Once we reach there, they will narrate a story with a few puzzles to unfold the mystery. We have one hour duration to solve the puzzles. Each room is different, and there are many objects in every room, which are our clues. Using the clues we need to find a way to open the next door and if we can’t find it, the doors would be opened at timeout, and we would be let out.

We were curious to know how the room would be. Savitur asked, “Is it a trap or an escape room?” “Both,” answered Lalith. “If you are caught into the puzzle, it is a trap room. If you solve the puzzle, it’s an escape room!” Hearing this answer, we all laughed.

All of us reached the place and bought the entry tickets. We got room number 4 for our game, with 6 children and 4 adults. We were all excited. They locked us inside the room. The first room had a few pictures and statues, with simple decor. There was a key below a doll, which we used to open the second room. The second room was not as simple as the first one. We had to push a few objects, knock at a few things, move a few, and proceed, but we spent quite a lot of time discussing the modus operandi. Somehow, we managed to cross four rooms, but by the time the 1-hour duration was over, we were let out. It was a nice experience, and we felt that one hour had passed by very quickly. We all wanted to come back here again.

By this time, we were all feeling hungry, and there was nothing like Subway when you’re hungry. We all went to the nearby Subway and ate.  This whole experience was so lovely. All of us traveling together, chatting and solving the puzzles together, and later eating together, was a memorable experience.

I think I will remember it for a long time to come. We don’t visit such gaming places often. My mother said that the entrance fee was expensive, but she also said that such games encourage lateral thinking, and solving puzzles gives confidence and presence of mind. Above all, it teaches how to be a team player. Sports activities not only give physical strength and stamina but also mental strength. Playing or working as a team is joyful when the desired goal is achieved, and it is a big learning experience. Team success is more enjoyable than individual success.
