Boat Ride
I have been on numerous boat rides, experiencing a variety of boats. Typically, we embark on boat rides exclusively during the summer months. My favorite type of boat to ride is the paddle boat, as it is comfortable to sit and ride, much like a bicycle. We usually take an hour-long ride on the lake, traveling from one side of the bank to the other. The gentle waves caused by the ripples in the water, combined with the mild breeze and our conversations make this ride intriguing. Although I have always been keen to try surfing, I recognize that I need to mature a bit more to handle a surfboard and surfing. Until then, I will stick to my paddle boat.
I have attempted to row a boat in the past, but rowing a boat requires significant muscle strength. Lifting the oars requires a great deal of energy, and pushing against the current will quickly tire me out. I tried it once, then handed the oars to my father.
On occasion, we have taken a motorboat ride. The sight of the water flowing at the back of the boat is breathtaking when it speeds up. Once, two families, ours and our friends', went on a big motorboat ride, and we happily sang louder than the noise of the engine while riding the boat.
Numerous big ferries (passenger boats) operate between the small islands from the Puget Sound in Seattle. I enjoy standing at the edge of the boat on the top floor and sitting close to the window inside the boat. Standing on the boat's deck is adventurous, but the wind chill prevents us from standing for too long. These ferries also carry our cars inside the lower deck. After the ferry reaches the pier, we can easily drive our cars off the ferry. The ferries have many amenities, including restaurants, shops, lounging chairs, pedestrian spaces, viewing decks, and more, which make them majestic.
Cruise ships are another fantastic way to travel for a long period, with plenty of activities to enjoy such as eating, sleeping, playing, dancing, and more. We have been on two cruises: one from the US to Canada, and the other from the US to Mexico, both of which were very enjoyable. Once you experience a cruise, you'll want to go again.
Whether it's a small boat or a large ship, it's always fascinating to travel on them. When we talk about boats and ships, fishermen immediately come to mind. These brave individuals endure rain, storms, and other natural disasters, risking their own lives to provide us with tasty fish. I am grateful to those fishermen who bring such delicacies to us.
