Samammish Lake Trail

Sammamish Lake is a lake with a 10-mile around trail. Vimal decided that he wanted to cycle around the lake today. Marymoor Park is located in the north and Interstate 5 is in the south of the lake. One can go around this long oval lake on a bicycle.

Vimal started cycling from his house on the western side of the lake. Sammamish Lake's west side is full of independent houses. These houses are on the slope of the road. If you see them from the lake side roads, only the roof of the houses will be visible. The roads will be on the higher visibility and the houses will be in the valley.

There is a bicycle lane around the lake, and Vimal was cycling on that road. The road is upward inclined, and Vimal was huffing and puffing as he cycled. Soon, Vasa Park would come up. Vasa Park is a private property, and the cycling track is only on one side of the road, making it difficult to face the speeding vehicles. Since there is no scenic beauty, it was not boring for Vimal. He often checked his speed and the distance he covered.

On that road, a small shop is there, probably called a convenience store. Vimal had a coffee there, and the chill wind was refreshing. He started from there and crossed the Russian school and entered the Issaquah area.

He cycled alongside I-90, and this path is sloping and does not require pedaling. The cycle sped down like a motorcycle. Vimal pressed his brake to control the speed. Vehicles were speeding on I-90, and Vimal felt like he was also speeding like them. The breeze on his face was very comforting. From Costco, the road was flat and even. Vimal comfortably cycled down. He had to go through the traffic-sum road and crossed many red lights and reached Eastlake Road.

Eastlake Road is a new road, and only walkers and cyclists are allowed. Only a few walkers were walking along with a few cyclists. Vimal happily hummed a tune and cycled, enjoying the chill breeze. There was a diversion board for construction work, and he took the turn. He went along with the motor vehicle traffic. Once again, it was a downward slope, and Vimal sped through this. In a long cycling expedition, these slopes on the routes are comfortable and reduce sweat and tiredness.

The diversion ended, and the road connected to Eastlake Road again. Many people were walking and going on scooters. There is a small park, and Vimal rested there for a bit. A few people were fishing, and kids were swimming in the lake. They cooked fish in barbeque and ate. Few were riding water scooters; few were rowing long boats. It was very noisy but entertaining. The lake is a fun place and gives so much joy to people who come there. Sammamish is the name of the tribe who lived in that area. That is why the lake got its name Sammamish.

After relaxing for a while, Vimal resumed his cycling again. He cycled through Marymoor Park and finished his 10-mile cycling expedition. The pleasant breeze and not-so-tough terrain made his experience memorable. Finishing the distance in 1 hour and 30 minutes was not a bad deal, he thought. Completing his expedition gave him joy and immense satisfaction.
